Fast Asset was nearly sold to a racehorse breeder in Alabama when a vet check showed an enlarged ovary on the ultrasound. The signs pointed to a granulosa cell tumor so the buyer opted to back out of the sale. However, I sent bloodwork to UC Davis just to confirm the diagnosis and it came back NEGATIVE!
No granulosa cell tumor. However, the vets do not know exactly what is wrong. It is probably a hematoma and nothing to be concerned about but her breeding future is uncertain. She may be fertile but it doesn't look real promising so her price has been lowered drastically to reflect her value as a riding horse only. If you want to buy her and pasture breed her I would love to see you get a great deal and to prove us wrong. She loves being a mother and it would be wonderful to see her get another chance at it.
As of 9/6/07 Ilijah is now under saddle. The first ride was quite uneventful and he was only interested in the reins and the now moving bit. The shifting weight on his back? Who cares, no big deal right? It was a proud moment for me as his momma, knowing that I've raised such a trusting, inquisitive, and easy to train youngster.
